US-based AMC Film Company will begin screening ‘Laleh’ as of March 18, 2022 in ten cities and 30 US cinemas. This is the first time an Iranian movie will be screened by this film company which operates in over 125 countries worldwide.
Directed by Iranian-born Hollywood director-producer Asadollah Niknejad, ‘Laleh’ was premiered last year on March 12th right after theaters opened in Tehran to unanimous kudos.
Produced by DEFC and Canadian ‘The Movie Drive, Inc.’, ‘Laleh’ tells the heroic true struggles of Laleh Seddiq, the champion of Iranian car racing. It has portrayed the challenges that Laleh has faced in pursuing her dream to race cars against all odds.
Niknejad made films in Iran before coming to Hollywood in 1982, where he worked as a producer and executive for many TV series and movies.
He acquired rights to Laleh Seddigh's story after her amazing race victory in 2005.
Homayoun Ershadi (‘The Kite Runner’), Nicholas Guilak (‘Think Like a Man’), Niki Karimi, Iraj Nozari, Azita Hajian make the Iranian-American cast team of the flick.
Sara Amiri, who played Laleh, is a new face in cinema but a total natural to the big screen.
The film is originally shot in English and dubbed in Farsi only for Iranian audiences.
Film goers remarked that ‘Laleh’ was a Hollywood style movie with an authentic Iranian tone.
Niknejad plans to return to L.A. at the end of March 2022 to seek worldwide distribution from a major studio for this very unique, must-see movie.
As put by their official website, AMC is “the global leader in targeted subscription streaming and home to iconic and fan-favorite brands across television, independent film, production, distribution, gaming, and publishing.”
